Lotta 'box for a little bux : Sony CFDS05 CD Radio Cassette Recorder Boombox

I'm surprised that this is a Sony product. This boom box eats cassette tapes. Its a hungry little terror!

I purchased this "device" as a gift for my husband who wanted to record CDs on to cassette tapes. Why? Because he had a cassette player in his car and didn't want to put in a CD player. Ok, so he's not up to date with modern technology but this is what he wanted for Christmas.

On the device itself, it has letters that say "Corder" not "recorder." When we first saw this, we wondered if Sony had short-changed us by not tossing in the "r and e." Odd, don't you think? We thought so.

My husband liked the sound of the machine but when he'd click to stop a cassette tape while recording, the boombox would break the cassette tape and "eat" it. THIS IS NOT GOOD!

While I'm very aware of the age of some of my husband's cassettes, this device is being sold to play CDs and record them on to cassette tapes. The machine should not be destroying them. Either the tension is too tight or not tight enough.

Would I suggest that you purchase this boombox? NO! Maybe Sony isn't as good of a brand as it used to be and we are unhappy with this purchsae.
